Faulty / Defective carbon monoxide alarm Kidde

We bought a kiddie smoke and carbon monoxide alarm. Of course have a new alarm we thought we would be secure. After moving to a new house we have a propane water heater in our sons room. our concern of course was the gas leaking while our 12 year old sleeps. until our addition is complete I assumed we could trust the Kidde alarm. I thought I would hold it around the water heater. It did nothing. I then held it over the Exhaust pipe outside while the burner was running. it failed to alert again. With my concern of this product I headed for the gas stove. I blew out the pilot light turned on the gas covered it in foil it still did nothing. When i light the stove it alerts for fire, then pushing the rest it say beeps and says fire, Then warning carbon monoxide as seen in the video I do know of another way of testing this other than a plumbers torch. I found it undependable and suggest testing yours as it could be your life or your loved ones

Kidde KN-COSM-B Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm Test

Just got the combination talking alarm as now required by state law. Testing out the alarm for the first time. It is much louder than it seems in the video, as the camera must have attenuated the microphone in response. The alarm should last 7 years after first power-up, according to the manual, mostly due to the CO sensor’s lifespan. Battery operated with hard wired version available. Seems well made and a worthwhile purchase.

Carbon Monoxide-Be Alarmed! celebrity campaign supporter, Richard Arnold, discusses the dangers

Celebrity supporter, Richard Arnold, said: “I’m shocked at how few people realise the risks of Carbon Monoxide. My friend tragically fell unconscious in the bath after her boiler became faulty, which could have happened to any of us. Every single household should get an alarm installed — it’s the only way to be sure of detecting this silent killer.”
